Lighting and charging possibilities can change the lives of poor farmers in East Africa. Our office in Kenya assisted when Norwegian company Bright Products handed out 2000 free solar lamps in collaboration with Yara International.
The multifunctional solar lamp from Bright Products provides light, free electricity and the ability to charge mobile phones. The lamps also increase safety for people moving around after it gets dark, reducing the risk of being bitten by dangerous animals such as snakes and scorpions.
Among other things, electricity and charging possibilities give farmers access to valuable information on their mobile phones on how to increase their crop yield.
Yara’s involvement and market opportunities within the digitalisation of agriculture have led to the Action Africa initiative and the donation of 2000 solar lamps in East Africa. Innovation Norway’s office in Kenya assisted in handing out the solar lamps. Bright Products has worked closely with us since its inception in 2009.
Innovation Norway has offices in 18 countries to help Norwegian companies with their export activities. Through these offices, companies have access to local advisors who know the market, the business culture and which opportunities are available to Norwegian trade and industry at any given time.
