MØRE AND ROMSDAL 2006
The year 2006 was a good year for business and industry in Møre og
Romsdal, compared with the rest of the country. There was
particularly great growth in the seafood sector. “Goal-oriented
work to facilitate increased innovation in the local industries
has shown results”, states Director Bjørn Tunheim.
Møre og Romsdal is still the largest county, measured by the use
of public support from Innovation Norway when loans and grants are
combined. The loan portfolio that Innovation Norway in Møre og
Romsdal manages totals NOK 2,041 million and accounts for around
19% of our total loan portfolio as of 31 December 2006.
The office enjoys good cooperation with Møre og Romsdal County,
including the agricultural management department. Innovation
Norway plays a key role in the development of the Regional
Development Programme and is responsible for a number of the
programmes.
The level of activity in industry is very high, and one of the
greatest challenges is the heated labour market. We see an
increase in sales in the mechanical industry, shipyards and
shipowners, and the latter are also delivering very good results.
