Sogn and Fjordane 2006
The Norwegian economy is in a period of very strong expansion.
This is taking place without any corresponding increase in prices
and wages. The most important reason for this is the import of
inexpensive goods, increased domestic competition, and high labour
immigration.
Growth in Sogn og Fjordane in 2006 was much higher than
anticipated for all industries. A major portion of business and
industry also anticipates that the demand will continue to grow in
2007. As many as 60% of the enterprises feel that the market
outlook is better now than at the same time last year. Optimism is
greater now than it has ever been.
There has been a great demand for Innovation Norway’s public
support in 2006. Manufacturing is the industry that has received
the most support. The largest grants were awarded to the solar
panel factory Norsun AS and the door manufacturer Dooria AS in
Årdal.
The office has good cooperation with the Sogn og Fjordane County
Authority and with the County Governor. Innovation Norway has
participated in the development of the Rural Development Programme
and participated in several programmes.
